I just got back from my sister's house in Houston, Texas. I went with my parents for my eight year old nephew's 1st Holy Communion. It was a quick trip, only five days, but we managed to pack some wonderful memories in just the same.
My sister and her family left California for Texas eight years ago. My nephew was born here but has lived almost his entire life in the Lone Star state. He is very proud of Texas as you'll note from his favorite T-shirt but his interests are decidely Californian.
During the Communion ceremony the priest asked the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up, several hands went up. We heard one child say that he wanted to be a skater when he grew up. We didn't have to have a clear view to know that was my nephew. We had just heard his top five job list the night before and professional skateboarder was right at the top.
I took a few pictures of him doing his tricks and thought I'd share a few with you.
As much as I enjoyed the visit, I always do, it's so good to be home.
I'm hoping to get back in my craft room soon. Hopefully, I'll have something to show you later this week.
Be back soon.
Hi, I'm in Houston and just wanted to say what a handsome young man. Glad you had a good time.

Love it! A boy after my own heart. My oldest son (11 years old) has the same aspirations :-) We are transplanted to Minnesota, but my husband and I are both originally from California...it must be in the blood ;o)
Looks like you had a fun trip!

What a good-looking kid. You were in my neck of the woods. Hope the city was nice to you. We live closer to The Woodlands, but it's about all the same.

Hi Dayle,
My sister actually lives in Cypress. We had nice weather the first couple of days but then it heated up quite abit. Not as bad as August though...lol The Woodlands is such a beautiful area. Thanks for stopping by.
